Art Classes

Sign up for art classes in advance at the front desk or download the GloFox app. Most art classes have a supply fee and are listed online. Fees are non-refundable unless you have a medical emergency. Call 24 hours in advance to cancel the class. You will have 30 days from the date of cancellation to use class credit. Class fees help cover supplies needed for class projects. Class sizes are limited, so be sure to sign up in advance. Classes change monthly. Check the app and monthly newsletter for details.

Wire and Bead Classes with Debby Williams and Ginna Dowling

Projects include crystal sun catchers, necklaces, and matching earrings. This class is filled with friendship, laughter, and camaraderie.

Beginners Basket Weaving with Mary Lee

Learn basic basket weaving techniques to complete a basket. Bring the following tools: an awl or flathead screwdriver and a hand towel.

Monday Morning Drawing

Play and explore drawing basics. This class is for you, from beginners to those wanting to re-kindle their love of drawing.

Intro to Acrylic Painting - Color & Mixing

Study color mixing, play with colors, and explore acrylic painting.

Acrylic Painting

This class is for beginners or those who wish to connect with their creativity and have the opportunity to paint. Paint and explore the colors and techniques of acrylic painting!

Bird of the Month

Sam Douglas' bird classes are for all skill levels! Study, draw, and paint these beautiful birds.

Acrylic, Watercolor, Drawing & Collage Lab

Come complete class projects you've been working on or even start a new one. This is not an oil painting lab.

Intro to Watercolor - Color Play!

For beginners or those who want to connect with creativity, dabble in paint with this fun and playful experimentation of watercolors. This class will focus on color with wet and dry colors and layers.

Intro to Watercolor Techniques

This class is excellent for beginners or those who want to connect with creativity or brush up on their watercolor techniques. Play and experiment with fun exercises and techniques. Have fun and play with the paint!

Watercolor Pareidolia

Have you ever seen a face, an animal, a specific image, or a pattern in the clouds? This is Pareidolia! This art therapy technique will be combined with watercolors in this fun class. You will experiment and play with watercolor paints and then develop what you see!

Watercolor Still Life

Paint a watercolor still life painting. This class is ideal if you have taken the intro or beginning classes and want to combine color and technique in a still-life painting.

Oil Painting Classes with Barbara Benton

Learn more about oil painting. All levels are welcome, but we also have an intro class for true beginners.

Intro to Oil Painting

This class is for beginning students before going to other oil painting classes. If you'd like to reconnect with the basics, this class is also for you. Come and dabble and learn about color and simple concepts of oil painting.

Oil Painting

Come paint with friends while learning about composition and oil painting techniques. From a simple still life to photographs of animals, figures, and landscapes, Barbara will lead the class through a new oil painting weekly while helping students individually.

Paint and Palette

Come to a different piece each class, and bring a friend! Non-members can join in the fun for a day rate plus the supply fee.

Intro to Pottery with Grace Doner

Get your hands on clay and learn about our pottery program, clay construction methods, and everything you need to know to participate in classes and labs. This class includes firing coupons to complete a project.

Pottery Project with Grace Doner

Learn more about hand-building clay, enhance your skills, and build a beautiful mug! This three-part class includes firing coupons to complete the project.

Pottery & Ceramics Lab

Sign-up is required for lab time. There is an instructor to help you. Firing Coupons are $35 for ten items; you can purchase them at the Front Desk. Before participating in Pottery Labs, you must have taken the Intro to Pottery class. Students and participants from the Norman Senior Center may work in the lab without prior instruction. However, sign-up is required.

Embroidery with Darci Lenker

Each student will receive instruction based on their skill level, starting with the most basic embroidery stitches and working through various techniques. Students will develop a comprehensive knowledge of embroidery to feel comfortable tackling any project.

Felting with Darci Lenker

Students will learn how to create unique three-dimensional objects, portraits, and scenes from wool. Perfect your skills in using both wet felting and needle felting techniques.

Greeting Cards with Stacee Dingler

Create mixed-media cards and embellished envelopes. Use paint, acrylic markers, colored pencils, stamps, stencils, or collages. Bring any art or collage paper you may want to use.

Nostalgia Writing with Judith Coker

You're a keeper of family stories--let's make sure you pass them on to your children and grandchildren. The past can teach, entertain, and make us aware of our place in a long line of wonderful people.

Cell Phone Photography with Tauri Sims

Tauri Sims is a magnificent cell phone photographer who has photographed her way around Italy and the globe. She will introduce you to composition and the basic rules for taking good photos.

Tie-Dye T-Shirts with Kathryn Smith

Learn how to make a colorful tie-dyed t-shirt.

Japanese Origami with Hono Noda and Folding Lab

Classes and labs are free. We will learn the beautiful art of origami paper folding. You can come to the lab to practice and improve your skills.

Paper & Mask Making with Jennifer Robertson

Create beautiful sheets of handmade paper and learn how to make them into greeting cards and sculpted masks. Students must take all three classes to make masks.

Mixed Media Collage with Laura Nelson

No experience is necessary, just paper, scissors, glue, and a lot of fun. This is a great way to spend an evening and connect with your creativity! If you have any on hand, bring some old magazines to donate for cutting up text and photos to incorporate into your design.
